So, it's been 3 days since we've been back with The Blind Box & we close out the week by clearing the bases. Catfish & G take some time to talk about randomness & are joined by certified gem dropper, super producer & Surf Club's own ChaseNCashe of New Orleans. Chase talks with GM & Catfish to find out what they've been up to on The Blind Box while he steps away from his own "Crownbearers: King of Kings" podcast. Chase also drops knowledge on a wide variety of topics from working with a who's who of talent in the hip hop game (Drake, J.Cole, Kanye, Pharrell, G-Eazy & more) to recognizing when someone's got something original going (as well as when someone steps in to try to borrow that original for a minute) & Earl Sweatshirt/Young Thug (why they may not be as opposite as we may see them). We take time to talk hip hop for non hip hop heads, hip hop overseas, & hip hop at home. Strange Music, ICP, MGK, Lil Dicky, Bronson. All while our open invitation still stands for Wale to join us on the show (might maybe could happen? Listen to find out more...) We also play "3's A Crowd" with Chase & get his top 3 studio stories, 3 favorite comedians & 3 favorite musicians.
In the 2nd segment DOT aka "The Notorious DOT" joins the show to talk about his recent switch in style since the start of his trek to the top of the music world. DOT speaks on his influences & how Jay-Z played a larger part in the landscape of sound than people may want to give him credit for. DOT also talks about being a conduit for people to go back and listen to Jay & BIG's catalog. GM & Catfish take the role of rap friend as they try to find out what's going on in the world of The Notorious DOT. Episode (10)3 of The Blind Box is here man, might need the weekend to soak this one in but we'll be back on Tuesday just the same, peace ya'll!
